More than you’d expect from a free tier.

Per Lobbytrack’s published pricing page, the free Starter plan covers up to 100 visitors per month with unlimited hosts and unlimited users, visitor sign-in and sign-out, auto sign-out, photo capture, badge printing with a customizable badge designer, health screening questions, deny conditions, queue management, multiple sign-in flows, QR touchless sign-in, email notifications to host and reception, and apps for iOS, Android, and Windows. Email support is included, and there’s no contract.

There’s a quirk on that same page worth knowing about: in any month with under 20 visits, you get every Ultimate-plan feature. A genuinely quiet office — a two-partner law firm, a satellite sales office — can run the top tier indefinitely without paying.

Credit where it’s due. If your requirement list reads “digital log, visitor photo, printed badge, email the host,” the free Starter plan is finished software, not a trial. The Cap Is 100 Visitors. That’s Not the Real Limit.

A hundred visitors a month works out to roughly five a working day, going by the Starter cap on Lobbytrack’s pricing page. Most small offices never come close.

The tighter constraints are two features that front desks tend to ask for eventually, and both sit higher than you’d guess:

• Visit agreements — the NDA and waiver flow. These start at the Professional plan, listed at $100 per month per location on Lobbytrack’s pricing page. Lobbytrack’s Basic plan, listed at $50 per location per month on that same pricing page, lifts the visitor cap and adds phone support — but not document signing.
• SMS, Slack, and Microsoft Teams notifications. These sit in the Ultimate tier, which that same page lists as call-for-price. Lobbytrack’s own free-plan guide for small offices names “You need SMS or Microsoft Teams notifications” as one of its stated upgrade triggers.

Email-only host notification is the one that bites quietly. It works fine until the host is in a back-to-back afternoon with their laptop shut. Then the visitor stands in the lobby, the badge has already printed, and nothing happens for eleven minutes. Nobody logs that as a software problem. It just becomes the receptionist’s job again.

Four situations. If none of them describe you, staying put and paying up is the right call — switching vendors costs a weekend of setup and a month of retraining, and that’s real money too.
