SwipedOn vs Sign In App: They're the Same Vendor Now
SwipedOn no longer sells separately — SwipedOn.com redirects to Sign In App. Here's what the merger means for buyers and where an iPad-first alternative still fits.
By InstaCheckin Team
Type SwipedOn.com into a browser and you end up on signinapp.com. The pricing page redirects too, with a 301. So the honest version of SwipedOn vs Sign In App in 2026 is that there’s no versus left to evaluate: Sign In App’s SwipedOn page says “SwipedOn is now part of Sign In App,” and the two products are being folded into one.
That matters if you’re mid-shortlist. Booking demos with both is booking the same demo twice.
Below: what actually merged, what the surviving product costs, what existing SwipedOn customers should pin down before renewal, and where a narrower iPad-first tool still beats a workplace platform.
Feature and pricing claims about other vendors are based on publicly available product information as of 13 August 2026. SwipedOn vs Sign In App: what actually changed
Both products started life doing the same job — an iPad at reception, a visitor types their details, the host gets notified. SwipedOn was New Zealand-founded, Sign In App is UK-founded, and for years they were genuine head-to-head competitors.
Then Sign In App acquired SwipedOn’s parent company, SmartSpace Software, in 2024. Sign In App’s combined Sign In App and SwipedOn page puts it plainly: “SwipedOn will be merging with Sign In App; the new and improved visitor management system will remain under the Sign In App brand.” The same page says the combined business covers 28,000+ sites across 70+ countries.
The merge isn’t a flip of a switch. Sign In App’s post on building the next generation of visitor management describes “a carefully planned transformation journey that will unfold throughout 2025 and 2026,” with a rebuilt Portal 2.0 pulling the best of both dashboards into one interface. Site Collections — grouping locations by region — is listed as coming in 2026.
So: one vendor, one brand going forward, two codebases converging on a timeline that isn’t finished yet.
What you’re actually quoted today
Since SwipedOn.com/pricing now lands on Sign In App’s pricing page, that card is the only one a new buyer sees. Three self-serve tiers, billed per site per year — Core, Enhanced, and Pro — plus an Executive tier by quote. Rendered in sterling, those list at £415, £835, and £1,255; the page localises currency by region, so a US buyer sees dollar figures on the same structure.
Two lines in that page’s FAQ do more to your budget than the headline number. Each location with a different postcode or zip code needs its own site subscription. But additional devices at a single site connect at no extra cost. A two-entrance building is cheap. Three offices in three cities is three subscriptions.
The other thing to read carefully is what’s a tier versus an add-on. The same pricing page prices Spaces (desk and room booking), Scheduling, and Time & Attendance separately, on their own annual scales. If a quote for Core landed in your inbox and you assumed desk booking came with it, re-read the quote. We broke the full price card down in our Sign In App alternative comparison, and the same trap applies here.
If you’re already a SwipedOn customer
Sign In App’s messaging to existing users is reassuring and deliberately non-specific: “The kiosk app, web dashboard, pocket will remain as they are, but you’ll start seeing some new features added,” and you’ll be notified in advance of any transition. No public migration date.
Three things worth getting in writing before your next renewal:
- When your account moves to Portal 2.0, and whether your current admin roles, custom sign-in fields, and NDA documents carry across or need rebuilding.
- Whether your renewal price is the SwipedOn rate or the Sign In App site rate. Legacy pricing rarely survives a platform migration intact.
- What your visitor log export looks like on the day you leave, if you decide to. CSV of the full history, or the last 12 months?
That last one isn’t paranoia. It’s the single question that decides whether switching later is a weekend or a quarter.
Where a single-purpose iPad kiosk still wins
Sign In App is a workplace platform: visitors, employee sign-in, desk booking, evacuation, time and attendance. If your facilities team owns all five of those problems, a platform is the right shape and the per-site price buys real breadth.
If what you actually have is one reception desk and a paper logbook that the next visitor can read, you’re paying for four modules you’ll never open. That’s the gap InstaCheckin sits in. It’s iPad-first, licensed per location with up to five kiosks at that location, and it does one job: a visitor signs in on a branded kiosk, the app captures a photo, prints an adhesive badge through a Brother QL label printer, collects an NDA or safety waiver signature inline, and emails and texts the host that their guest has arrived. Visits land in a cloud log you can filter by location, host, date range, or name and export to CSV or PDF. The InstaCheckin iPad app has been on the App Store since 2017.
What it doesn’t do, so you can rule it out fast: no Android or Windows tablets, no ID scanning, no watchlist screening, no Slack or Teams notifications, no desk booking, no calendar sync for pre-registration. Narrow on purpose. Current rates are on the pricing page, and if you want the line-by-line on what a front desk system typically costs across the category, we wrote up visitor management system cost.
Our older SwipedOn alternative comparison still holds on product fit — SwipedOn’s kiosk experience was good, and it’s still running. The corporate framing in it is out of date, which is exactly the point of this post.
FAQ
Is SwipedOn still a separate product from Sign In App?
No. Sign In App’s SwipedOn page states SwipedOn is now part of Sign In App, and SwipedOn.com 301-redirects to signinapp.com. Existing accounts still log in and the kiosk app still runs. There’s no separate SwipedOn plan for a new buyer to shortlist.
Who acquired SwipedOn?
SwipedOn joined Sign In App through the 2024 acquisition of its parent, SmartSpace Software, and both brands now sit in the Sign In Solutions family, per Sign In App’s combined product page. The two products are being merged in a phased rollout rather than one cutover.
What does Sign In App cost per site?
Sign In App’s pricing page lists Core, Enhanced, and Pro billed per site per year, plus an Executive tier by quote — £415, £835, and £1,255 in sterling, localised by region. Each location with a different postcode or zip code needs its own site subscription, though extra devices at one site are included.
Will my SwipedOn iPad app stop working?
Not immediately. Sign In App says the kiosk app, dashboard, and pocket app stay as they are for now, with advance notice before any migration. Ask your account contact for the migration date in writing before committing to a multi-year term.
What should I compare instead?
Compare Sign In App against vendors that are still independent, and pick the axis that matches your building. Platform breadth if facilities owns desks, rooms, and evacuations. Kiosk simplicity if you’re replacing one logbook at one desk.
Try it at your own front desk
The fastest way to settle this is to run a real sign-in on your own iPad rather than watching a demo of someone else’s lobby. Start a free trial, pair the iPad app, and print a badge for the next visitor who walks in. If your Brother QL printer, your NDA, and your host notification all work the way you expected, you have your answer in an afternoon.
